Westwood
is home to the University of California, Los Angeles, and a large
percentage of the over 30,000 Bruins enrolled there. The vast majority
of students residing in Westwood live in the hills to the north of the
campus, because rental rates in the rest of Westwood are out of reach
for most college students. The rest of Westwood's residents are
predominately affluent.
The eastern portion of Westwood
is comprised mostly of single-family homes that range from modest to
relatively ornate. The fabulously wealthy neighborhood of Holmby Hills
is also sometimes considered as part of Westwood because of their close
proximity and shared zip code. "Little Holmby" is just south of Holmby
Hills and offers beautiful homes for much less than its namesake.
There are considerably more
apartments and condominiums in Westwood than in the rest of the Westside
communities, making the area quite dense in terms of population. The
Wilshire Corridor is lined with several, high-rise condominiums which
house a number of celebrity tenants. Prices for these condos range from
the mid-six figures for one bedroom to 15 million dollars for a posh
penthouse with stunning views.
Residents of Westwood enjoy the
shopping, dining, and entertainment district of Westwood Village, as
well as a relatively close proximity to the incomparable Beverly Hills
shopping and entertainment district. BeverlyHillsPeople.com focuses
specifically on Beverly Hills and the upscale Westside neighborhoods,
and can help you find the right agent to guide you in your real estate
search.
